Perfect gulet but ruined holidays – possible? Hell yes!
Imagine a group of 12 young people booking a gulet with an intention to go wild and party all the nights during their holidays. They set a goal to book a gulet which will cost them approximately 1.200 €/person/Week including food and they already had a perfect route in their mind. Booking was supposed to be easy and fast, and it was. Agency offered them a huge 32 meters gulet with 6 cabins, air condition, with a luxury full board menu, huge cabins, built in 2009. The discount clients received was also very nice and all was fine. However holidays were a disaster!!! Let’s explain why!
MISTAKE NO.1 – CLIENTS DID NOT GAVE THE INFO ABOUT THEIR AGE AND INTEREST
Clients just sent the inquiry stating they need nice 6 cabins gulet, with a budget around 14.000 €/week including food on a proposed itinerary by clients. Agent did not ask about the age of clients and truly offered best quality type of gulets along with nice discount.

WHY WAS THAT A MISTAKE?
wner on the gulet is 65 years old experienced sailor, real gourmet and expert on Croatian Wines, Archeology expert (former professor) and he was putting a lot of money inside of his gulet, keeping it sparkling white and in superb condition.
Imagine owners shock, when:
– clients wanted to have bar opened all night long
– when clients brought a box of vodka along with them on board (this is 90% forbidden in Croatia)
– when clients wanted to dance in saloon and on deck all night long
- clients coming back every night from disco at 5 o clock in the morning – loudly and in very good mood

Apparently this was not the gulet for party cruise groups which was very unpleasant for the owner and a shock for the clients.
MISTAKE NO. 2 – ITINERARY FROM CLIENTS WITHOUT CONSULTING WITH AGENCY
Clients proposed an itinerary, which was done by their friends couple of years ago, on a different (faster) type of gulet and they said this is A MUST HAVE ROUTE if the owner wishes to get a booking. The itinerary worked perfectly for the other group, but now it was terrible. Clients should always ask for recommendation from agency and agency should always recommend the route to clients. Also clients should listen to owner for advice. Owners always wish to make clients happy so if owner has a suggestion, listen to him.
WHY THAT WAS A MISTAKE?
Every gulet has different engine, some have sails some have not, some gulet owners are more experienced for some areas then others. So booking a Bodrum gulet cruise with a gulet which is specialized in Marmaris area sometimes is not the best idea. It is not just about hidden coves and bays which some owners know; it is also about the land organizations. Gulet owner from Marmaris knows all the people in his area and can organize easily everything in this area for clients. While in Bodrum this could mean a huge headache for the owner.

– they had to cruise every day for almost 6 hours to do the route, while their friends cruised only 3 or 4 hours/day. This is huge waste of time
– they had to pay for transfer to discotheques, land trips and other activities almost twice as much as their friends (because owner was not expert for that particular area)
– because of the heavy crowds in ports, they could not visit the same places after all as their friends (their friends traveled in June, while this group traveled in bossiest period in August)

2) THE AGE AND INTEREST OF CLIENTS:
Are you a party oriented group? Do you travel with small children or teenagers? Are you a group of seniors, or a group of several couples? This is very important info for us in order to provide you with crew that will fit your group best. The second ting is the interest of your group. Are you sports oriented group, or you just like to sunbathe, take a couple of swims and enjoy best possible food? Do you like to check as much towns as possible or maybe you are interested in religious type of cruise?
